1. Overview

Autodesk Salesforce Enhancer is a Chrome extension built for Technical Support specialists who work in Autodesk Salesforce Lightning and Knowledge. It adds shortcut buttons and visual cues directly on the pages you already use — so you spend less time on repetitive copy-paste, menu hunting, and manual case checks.

Who it’s for

Internal TSS agents working in the Autodesk Salesforce org (autodesk.lightning.force.com) and Autodesk Knowledge (help.autodesk.com). It does not run on other Salesforce orgs or unrelated websites.

2. How to install

The extension is published as Unlisted or Private (Google Workspace) for internal Autodesk use.

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store listing link provided by your team lead or IT (unlisted URL).
  2. Click Add to ChromeAdd extension.
  3. Pin the extension: click the Extensions puzzle icon in Chrome → pin Autodesk Salesforce Enhancer.
  4. Open Salesforce Lightning and confirm shortcut buttons appear (or open the popup and ensure Extension enabled is on).

Option B — Load unpacked (developers / testers only)

  1. Obtain the extension folder or .zip from the project repo.
  2. Go to chrome://extensions.
  3. Enable Developer mode (top right).
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the extension root folder (the folder containing manifest.json).
  5. Note the Extension ID shown on the card — you need it for the options page URL (see Section 3).

Note: Unpacked installs do not auto-update. Web Store installs receive updates when IT publishes a new version.


3. How to enable or disable

Master switch (popup)

  1. Click the Autodesk Salesforce Enhancer icon in the Chrome toolbar.
  2. Toggle Extension enabled at the top.
    • On — shortcut buttons and case cues appear on supported pages.
    • Off — all extension-owned UI is removed from Salesforce and Knowledge pages.

Full settings (options page)

Use the options page for every feature toggle, email font/size, and ChatGPT agent URL.

Open options:

Quick presets

Both popup and options page offer:

All on Enables every feature
Recommended Same as factory defaults (recommended for most agents)
Defaults Resets all settings to defaults
Refresh open pages (options only) Hard-refreshes open Salesforce and Knowledge tabs so changes take effect immediately

Auto-refresh when enabling

Hard-refresh pages after enabling (General group) — when you turn the master switch back on, matching open tabs refresh with cache bypass so buttons reappear reliably. Leave this on unless IT asks otherwise.


4. Feature list

Every feature below can be toggled independently in the popup or options page.

General

Copy tools

Toggle What it does
Article title rich copy On Knowledge article pages: Copy Title and Public URL (rich HTML link) and Copy Solution (Solution field HTML) when present.
Knowledge result-list Copy buttons Compact Copy buttons on Knowledge search result rows inside Case pages.
AI-assisted Tools article Copy buttons Copy buttons on AI-assisted Tools recommended and helpful Knowledge article links in the sidebar.
Contact phone/mobile Copy buttons Small copy button next to phone and mobile numbers so each can be copied individually.
Contact email Copy buttons Small copy button next to contact email in Related Contact and similar fields.

Email tools

Toggle What it does
Email fixed font & size button Adds Aa on the case email toolbar. Select text, click Aa to apply your chosen font and size.
Fixed email font Font family for Aa (default: Verdana).
Fixed email text size Font size for Aa (default: 14px).
Email AI send button (ChatGPT) Adds GPT on the Salesforce email toolbar and a Salesforce button on ChatGPT to return rewritten text. See Section 5.
ChatGPT agent URL URL opened when you click GPT (default: internal Support Email Rewriter agent). Must be https://chatgpt.com/... or https://chat.openai.com/....

Case validation

Toggle What it does
Attachment count validation Highlights the Knowledge attachment count on case panels. Green highlight only when exactly one article is attached.
Case tab Product Feature status Colors console case tabs green or red based on Product Feature + attachment rules. See Section 5.
Closed case list duplicate highlight On the Closed Cases with Art# and ProdFeature report, marks duplicate case rows red when the same case number appears more than once.
Case email From address guard Blocks Send on case email composers unless From is customersupport@autodesk.com. Shows a warning if another sender is selected.

Attach-to-Case confetti Compact visual feedback when you click Attach to Case.

5. Key workflows

Copy article title, URL, and Solution

Where: Autodesk Knowledge article pages (help.autodesk.com) and in-case Knowledge surfaces.

  1. Ensure Article title rich copy is enabled.
  2. Open a Knowledge article (external GCO article or in-case article view).
  3. Click Copy Title and Public URL — pastes a rich HTML link (title + public URL) to your clipboard.
  4. If the Solution field is present, click Copy Solution — copies the Solution HTML.

Case tab colors (console)

Where: Salesforce Service Console — the row of open case tabs at the top (not in-record tabs like Feed, Details, or Account & Contact).

Requires: Case tab Product Feature status and Attachment count validation enabled (both on by default).

Tab color Meaning
Green Product Feature is set and exactly one Knowledge article is attached
Red Product Feature missing, wrong attachment count (0, 2+, etc.), or validation still loading

Email AI — GPT button and ChatGPT return

Requires: Email AI send button (ChatGPT) enabled, a ChatGPT account (Autodesk-approved use), and network access to chatgpt.com.

Workflow:

  1. Open a Case email tab in Salesforce (reply composer with TinyMCE toolbar).
  2. Select the paragraph(s) you want reviewed in the email body — selection is required.
  3. Click GPT on the email toolbar (next to Aa).
  4. A ChatGPT popup window opens (not a new tab) with your selection pasted into the composer.
  5. The Support Email Rewriter agent responds with Rewriting Email Context and the rewritten email body below it.
  6. In the ChatGPT popup, click the floating Salesforce button (bottom-right).
    • The extension extracts text below Rewriting Email Context (or uses your manual selection if you highlight text yourself).
  7. Your Salesforce tab is focused and the selected email text is replaced with the rewrite.
  8. Review, edit if needed, and send when ready — you control the final send.

Popup behavior:

Default agent URL: https://chatgpt.com/agents/a/agt_6a33aeca3fb0819188bb0186caefeb1d — change in options if IT provides an updated agent link.


Contact phone and email copy

Where: Case record — Related Contact, Account & Contact, and similar phone/email fields.

  1. Ensure Contact phone/mobile Copy buttons and/or Contact email Copy buttons are enabled.
  2. A small copy icon appears next to each phone, mobile, or email value.
  3. Click the icon — that single value is copied to your clipboard (no extra selection needed).

Email fixed font and size (Aa)

  1. Ensure Email fixed font & size button is enabled.
  2. In the case email composer, select the text to format.
  3. Click Aa — applies your configured font (default Verdana) and size (default 14px).
  4. Change font/size defaults in the options page under Email tools.

Requirement Details
Browser Google Chrome (current supported release). Extension uses Manifest V3.
Salesforce org Autodesk org only: autodesk.lightning.force.com, autodesk.my.salesforce.com, and related Visualforce iframe hosts.
Knowledge help.autodesk.com for article copy shortcuts.
ChatGPT (Email AI only) Personal or team ChatGPT account with access to the configured agent URL. Sites: chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, auth.openai.com.
Permissions Extension must remain enabled in Chrome; clipboard access is used only when you click Copy or Email AI buttons.
Network Standard corporate access to Salesforce, Knowledge, and (if using Email AI) ChatGPT.

7. Troubleshooting FAQ

Extension icon is missing

Buttons or shortcuts not showing on Salesforce

  1. Open the popup → confirm Extension enabled is on.
  2. Confirm the specific feature toggle is on (e.g. Article title rich copy).
  3. Hard-refresh the Salesforce tab: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).
  4. Or open Options → click Refresh open pages.
  5. Confirm you are on an approved URL (autodesk.lightning.force.com, not a sandbox or different org unless explicitly supported).
  6. Check you are on the right surface (e.g. email toolbar buttons only appear in the case email composer, not every page).

Case tabs are the wrong color

Symptom Likely cause What to try
Tab stays red but PF + 1 article look correct Validation still loading, or attachment panel not scanned yet Wait a few seconds; click the tab to make it active; refresh the console
Tab is green but should be red Stale cache (rare) Hard-refresh Salesforce; reload the extension

Reload extension:

  1. Go to chrome://extensions.
  2. Find Autodesk Salesforce Enhancer → click the Reload (circular arrow) icon.
  3. Hard-refresh Salesforce console tabs.

Email AI (GPT) not working

Symptom What to check
No GPT button Email AI send button (ChatGPT) must be on; open a case email composer (TinyMCE toolbar)
GPT click does nothing Select text in the email body first — empty selection is not sent
ChatGPT popup does not open Pop-up blocker — allow popups for Salesforce / the extension
Paste did not appear in ChatGPT Wait a few seconds; ChatGPT composer may still be loading
No Salesforce button on ChatGPT Stay on the agent or conversation page (/agents/... or /c/...); button appears after the agent responds
Return to Salesforce failed Ensure the Salesforce email tab is still open; re-select text in the email and try again
Popup closed unexpectedly 5-minute idle timeout — restart the GPT flow

Requirements reminder: You must be logged into ChatGPT. The extension does not store credentials or API keys.

Changes in options not taking effect

Clear extension storage (reset all settings)

Use this if settings appear corrupted or behavior is inconsistent after an update.

  1. Go to chrome://extensions.
  2. Autodesk Salesforce EnhancerDetails.
  3. Under Site settings or Storage, clear extension data — or remove and reinstall the extension.
  4. Reopen the popup — settings return to Defaults / Recommended.

clipboardWrite Copy article text, URLs, Solution HTML, and contact fields when you click a Copy button.
clipboardRead Read your selected text in the Salesforce email composer when you use Email AI (ChatGPT handoff). Nothing is read until you click GPT.
scripting Inject page bridges (TinyMCE selection read/replace, ChatGPT paste) only when you click a button — not continuously.
tabs Open ChatGPT in a popup for Email AI and return focus to your Salesforce tab.
windows Manage the Email AI ChatGPT popup window (open, focus, idle close).
storage Save your feature toggles and case-tab session cache locally in Chrome on your machine.
alarms Close an idle Email AI popup after 5 minutes and retry ChatGPT paste if the composer loads slowly.
